Acrylic and gouache paintings that give me a voice — rooted in rural Texas, faith, and the journey of processing life.
Kate is a Texas-born artist rooted in the rural landscapes of her upbringing. She works in acrylic paint for her backgrounds and acrylic gouache for her foregrounds — a combination she favors for the soft, matte finish reminiscent of vintage comic books and 1950s advertisements. The result is contemplative paintings that process life's seasons, emotions, and inner growth. She occasionally adds epoxy resin to introduce striking contrasts of glossy and matte surfaces, as well as light and dark tones.
A former social worker and elementary teacher, Kate now homeschools her children while co-hosting the podcast The Recap Book Chat with her mother. Faith, peace, truth, love, and family form the foundation of her life and art. Her paintings often begin with color and feeling rather than a fixed plan, revealing themselves layer by layer when she approaches the work with calm openness.
Faith quietly guides every brushstroke, calling her toward peace, truth, love, and family — both in the art space and in the slow rhythms of rural life.
